If its pretty big I would go to a clinic & get then just to assess and get a RX for silvadene burn cream. If not, keep it moist with burn dressing (this is a hydrocolloidal dressing) that you can get at any drug store. Do not let the burn dry out as that will increase cracking = more scarring.
First thing do NOT apply butter or oil or things like that. just apply cool water and maybe a rag with a small amount of ice in it for only a short time such as 30 minutes or so. You may need to see a doctor and get a cream called silvadene cream it is what we use in the emergency room for burns. also for pain motrin is a great medicine because it is an anti-inflammatory.
Only a non stick bandage. Run it under cool water for 10 minutes (but no longer) at a time every hour.
Do NOT put any sort of lotions or creams on the site. I would see a doctor as soon as possible as motorcycle pipes are extremely hot... as well you could blister and become infected.
For motorcycle burns some are serious, most can be 2nd and 3 degree burns that must be treated by a physican or go to the emergency room cause it could start to get infected and leave a scare for the rest of your life.
If you don't have silvadene burn cream or a burn medicine called Foile mix some baking soda a water into a paste and put it on the burn. It is cooling and will take the burn out. Leave it on until it dries and falls off then cover the burn to keep the air out. Air makes a burn hurt worse. I picked up many burn patients with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns when I worked as a paramedic and you have to keep the burn covered to protect it from the air and keep infection away. The baking soda paste you can apply as often as needed.
If you burned the skin off and have third degree burn or think it may be infected go to a burn doctor and either get a skin graft or try and use something such as silvadene or aquacel to prevent infection and promote healing.
With this question a picture is required. Any exhaust can give a nice 3rd degree burn. It all depends on the temperature and duration of contact. If you burned skin off or there is black skin. Do see a doctor. If its just red and hurts but no skin is missing or charred you should be OK with BURN ointment.
The first thing with a burn is to draw the heat out of it, using ice and cold compresses. If it is not oozing, do not cover it and wear shorts so that you don't irritate the wound. If it is oozing, then ask a pharmacist for suggestions and cover with gauze. Do not put any oil base ointment of any kind, this can actually increase the burning.
